Talgar
A town at the foot of the Trans-Ili Alatau’s highest peak – a base for gorges and the nature reserve.
Talgar lies about 25 km east of Almaty on the Talgar River. A quiet garden town with a long history: the medieval settlement of Talkhiz is right next to it, and the Almaty Nature Reserve is headquartered here. A calm base for day trips into the mountains.
