Lake Issyk

A mountain lake beyond Talgar, near the town of Esik and the “Golden Man” burial mound.

Lake Issyk lies in the gorge of the same name, about an hour from Almaty. Its story is tied to the 1963 mudflow that reshaped it. Easy to combine with Talgar and the museum in Esik, where the “Golden Man” was found.
